Local revenue management and service delivery in local governments in Uganda, a case study of Muduuma sub-county, Mpigi district local government

| dc.description.abstract | The study was about Local Revenue Management and Service Delivery in Local Governments in Uganda; a case study of Muduuma Sub-County, Mpigi district Local Government. The study was based on the following objectives: (i) assess the effect of public revenue planning on service delivery in Muduma Sub- County, Mpigi District, (ii) examine the effect of public revenue mobilization on service delivery in Muduma Sub- County, Mpigi District, (iii) the effect of public revenue expenditure control on service delivery in Muduma Sub- County, Mpigi District The study used a total population of 81 respondents. A sample size of 60 was selected using Simple Random sampling and purposive sampling technique. A cross sectional survey research design was employed and both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection were used. Primary data was analyzed in SPSS program version. According to study findings, majority 34(56.7%) of the total respondents were in agreement that Public revenue planning has improved the quality of healthcare services in Muduma. However, 5(8.3%) were not sure and 21(35%) of the respondents were in disagreement. Findings indicates that 44(73.3%) of the total respondents agreed that the education sector benefits from proper public revenue planning in Muduma. This reveals that the education sector in Muduma Sub-County benefits from proper public revenue planning. Investments in educational resources, such as textbooks and teaching materials, have improved the quality of instruction and student learning outcomes. According to findings, 42(70%) of the total respondents were in agreement that the allocation of public revenue is transparent and accountable. The allocation of public revenue is transparent and accountable when the processes and decisions are open to scrutiny and ensure that funds are used effectively. Findings revealed that 44(73.3%) agreed that Public revenue mobilization efforts have increased community trust in local government services. Public revenue mobilization efforts have increased community trust in local government services by ensuring that adequate funds are available for essential projects and services. Findings indicated that 37(61.7%) were in agreement that mobilized public revenue is utilized effectively to enhance public services. The study recommends enhancing transparency and reporting by providing more detailed and accessible financial reports. Regular updates to the community through public meetings, online platforms and community radio programs should be implemented to build trust and ensure effective use of funds. | |
