Communication barriers and organizational success in local governments in Uganda , a case of Kira municipality

dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at examining the relationship between Communication barriers and organizational success in local governments in Uganda focusing a case of Kira Municipality. The study was guided by objectives including; to examine the effect of Complex Technologies to organizational success in local government focusing on Kira Municipality; to assess the relationship Language Barriers to organizational success in local government in Kira Municipality; to analysis the effect of Communication Channels to organizational success in local government and to examine the influence of existing communication policy on organization success in local focusing on Kira Municipality. The study employed a cross-sectional research design. The study used a cross-sectional study design and 40 respondents were involved in the study. The study findings revealed that of the respondents, 55% generally agreed that the use of technology has led to improved service delivery to citizens. However, 22.5% of the respondents disagreed and were not sure respectively. Study findings further revealed that 62.5% of the respondents generally agreed that, the communication channels used in this organization are adequate. However, 30% of the respondents were not sure and 7.5% disagreed. Findings of the study also indicated that 62.5% generally agreed, there is a clearly documented communication policy in Kira Municipality. However, 37.5% of the respondents disagreed. This implies that, Kira Municipal Council has a documented communication policy, at least in the form of a framework for conflict resolution. The study concludes on the relationship between communication barriers and organizational success in local governments specifically Kira Municipality revealed that effective communication is a critical driver of institutional performance. Communication barriers such as language differences, unclear channels, and lack of standardized communication protocols were found to hinder service delivery, reduce staff productivity, and compromise citizen satisfaction. The study recommends that public servants should use communication strategies to encourage the attainment of expected goals. Public officers should know that decisions made are based on the outcomes from all stakeholders. Therefore, effective communication skills in public service delivery would lead to suitable public image and reputation for organizations.
