| dc.description.abstract | This study examined the influence of the Board of Governors' (BoG) practices on the performance of private secondary schools in Kiboga Town Council, Kiboga District, Uganda. Specifically, the study was categorized under the objectives of it investigates how the BoG's involvement in policy development, holding meetings, and building relationships with local communities impacts school performance. A mixed-methods research design was adopted, using both quantitative (survey) and qualitative (interviews and observation) data collection techniques. For objective one the The significance level (p-value) of 1.160 is well above the 0.05 threshold, suggesting that this correlation is not statistically significant at either the 95% or 99% confidence level. This means that there is no substantial evidence to support a significant relationship between the development of school policies and the performance of private secondary schools in the Region. For objective two the correlation analysis between holding meetings and the performance of private secondary schools in Kiboga Town Council reveals a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.126, indicating a weak positive relationship between the two variables. The significance level (p-value) of 0.017 is less than the 0.05 threshold, suggesting that the correlation is statistically significant at both the 95% and 99% confidence levels, the findings for objective three shows a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.632, indicating a moderate to strong positive relationship between the two variables. The significance level (p value) of 0.000 is well below the 0.05 threshold, suggesting that the correlation is statistically significant at both the 95% and 99% confidence levels. Based on these findings, the study recommends several strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the BoG’s practices. These include regular reviews and updates of school policies, enhanced communication of decisions, and the establishment of structured follow-up mechanisms to ensure the implementation of decisions. Furthermore, strengthening collaboration with local community leaders and developing joint resource mobilization initiatives are key recommendations to improve school performance. The study also identifies areas for further research, such as exploring the direct relationship between regular policy reviews and the overall effectiveness of BoG policies, and examining how stakeholder involvement in policy development influences school outcomes. Ultimately, this study underscores the importance of governance practices in enhancing the performance of private secondary schools and provides a roadmap for improving school governance in Kiboga Town Council. | |
