Abstract

The study was about the effect of employee engagement on organizational performance in Kazo district local government, the study was guided objectives of the effect of leadership empowerment on employee engagement and organizational performance, the effect of communication channels on employee engagement and organizational performance and the effect of career development on employee engagement on organisational performance in Kazo district local government. The study employed a mixed methods research approach, both Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. In this study, a sample of 52 respondents was drawn from the study population, determined using Yamane's formula. The Self-administered questionnaire and interview guide were used to collect primary data. The study found that communication channels affected organizational performance. Findings indeed proved that timely publication of information through various channels had increased employee productivity and the efficiency of the organization as a whole. From the findings, the indication was that there existed a strong positive relationship between leadership empowerment and employee engagement. Precisely, employees were motivated and showed involvement when leaders empowered the staff. These results went further to indicate that with career development, motivation and productivity had been heightened among the employees. Overall, career development has enhanced employee engagement. The study concluded that there was a significant influence of career development opportunities on employee engagement and organizational performance in the context of Kazo District Local Government. Besides, the findings indicated that training, mentorship, and growth opportunities could act as significant motivating factors for employees in terms of increasing their motivation, participation, and commitment. The study recommended that Leadership empowerment should be accorded priority in improving employee engagement and organizational performance in Kazo District Local Government. Furthermore, career development opportunities may be among the means through which Kazo District Local Government can improve employee engagement and organizational performance.
